I've been wondering this for quite a long time. Why do the planets of our solar system all orbit the sun in (more or less) a single plane? Is it a random coincidence, or are there physical forces that govern it?
Random chance is the driver of most if not all of the processes in our universe. I'd expect that random chance would result in Mercury orbiting in one plane, Venus orbiting 90 degrees from Mercury, and everyone else finding a slot somewhere in between. That's not the case, though...can anyone explain why?
Any help will be apprecited.
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
